DigiKam-6.1.0 is quite old. Please try a more recent version. If no current version is available, try the AppImage from www.digiKam.org. Otherwise we need a backtrace as described here:

only spacebar after editing an image closes program unexpectedly
Toolbar controls or backspace key are unaffected
Comment 3 Garthhh 2020-11-10 18:27:25 UTC
Ahh too many versions back
Nature of being on mageia [user friendly] sometimes
Thanks for your time

I use Mageia here as main Linux box to use and develop digiKam. There is no crash visible with Mageia 6.x or 7.x.

It's probably a broken dependency problem with the official digiKam package provided by MAgeia team.

I recommend to use the official AppImage Linux bundle that we provide, build under Mageia Linux...

Gilles I have certainly seen you around the Mageia neighborhood over the years, thanks

No idea what this means
"official AppImage Linux bundle that we provide, build under Mageia Linux..."

I'm just a simple user who uses Mageia because of MCC & KDE suite of programs which generally work without much tinkering, beyond setting up toolbars/workflow

Reporting a bug may be helpful to the development, I don't have the skills to assess the severity of a particular anomaly, nor any desire to spend the time to learn the intricate details, which I can't seem to retain

In the forum setting I would just mark it as solved, when it becomes clear the issue is just something I have to adapt to or use/do something else, rather than consume dok's bandwidth

If there is some benefit for Mageia, Digikam or KDE, I'll try to get with the program & figure it
I already altered my workflow accordingly, no longer a bug in my world

I am trying to contribute in whatever small way
Sorry I got excited about being able to report a bug, I ignored the difference in versions

Thanks for all your hard work to keep all this stuff going forward

AppImage is a seft container including executable and dependency running under Linux. One program with all inside, not more. No need to install and change your system. Executing the digiKam AppImage bundle will uncompress all in memory in a virtual folder and run the application. Magic.

Current 7.2.0 beta2 bundle is here :

The problem cannot be reproduced with digiKam-7.2.0-RC, I close the bug.
