This is a feature request. I would like to be able to show selected applications in the system tray, instead than as a task manager button, when minimized. This behavior is very handy for daemon-like applications, where you use the GUI only upon notifications, such as Thunderbird, a running music player etc. Currently this behavior can be achieved through third-party programs such as KDocker. However: - KDocker and similar programs do not work on Wayland, and AFAIK cannot, due to protocol restrictions - Plasmashell would be much easier and more flexible than KDocker for the user. User shall be able to: - right-click on the taskbar button, and "send application to System Tray" - define a rule for the application, so that it is automatically started in the system tray, etc.

Not sure how much enthusiasm there would be for such a thing... :)
This isn't something I think we're interested in doing, sorry.
All right, thank you anyway :-)
