SUMMARY When opening a QT application, the whole system freezes for few milliseconds. So, playing video in mpv you can notice stutter while opening Dolphin or Konsole, but Nautilus does not have this effect. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Play video in any stable video player and turn on "keep above others" as not to cover it with another window. 2. While there is any slow vertical or horizontal camera movement, open Dolphin. 3. While there is any slow vertical or horizontal camera movement, open Nautilus. OBSERVED RESULT Stutter in playback. If FPS indicator effect turned on, spike and freeze. EXPECTED RESULT Uninteruppted playback suitable for video projection events and multimedial workstation. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Pop!_Os 20.04 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Same result on Debian Sid, Ubuntu 20.10 and Manjaro (Stable). Disabling composition helps the problem.
Is this still a problem with Plasma 5.27? I cannot reproduce this issue.
