Would it be possible to share this kra file via a google drive/dropbox link or testing.
Comment 2 Tiar 2020-11-03 02:33:02 UTC
Does it happen with every file or some specific ones? It looks as if it was crashing on some animation files?

I'm assigning Emmet since it's either Emmet or Eoin that will be working on that. Crash log is here so the bug report is confirmed. (A file would still be great; if it's too big, go to Image -> Scale Image to a new size (so all frames are still there), save under a different name, check if it still crashes and if yes, attach here).
Comment 3 SyrenityBloom 2020-11-03 02:36:24 UTC
I can't even open it in 4.4.1. I can open and use it on 4.4.0 tho. I attached the file.

I'm going to send a google link instead because it doesn't want to send it thru here. Here is the link:https://drive.google.com/file/d/19Afq4LrHCAc6BJ88j8FBtmy8y1z3eMH_/view?usp=sharing

I've just tested on Windows, and I didn't have any problems loading the image, but I've got 32gb of memory. How much memory does your system have?

The image is only 1.9gb big though, and besides, since you report that 4.4.0 can still load it, I'm really surprised because 4.4.1 only has a few bug fixes.

Could you also test the nightly stable build, please? https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Krita_Stable_Windows_Build/

The version 4.4.1 was the one offered thru Microsoft Store which did the update automatically so when it started crashing I downloaded the previous version off the website.

Okay... I see you have 2GB of RAM. And by default Krita allows only half of the RAM for image data, since the OS also needs RAM (and Windows 10 needs a lot), but the image needs 1.9 GB of RAM. What I don't get is how with this hardware you still could load that image with Krita 4.4.0 :-(

I know right?! Ugh this frustrating..
Comment 17 Halla Rempt 2020-11-03 13:10:40 UTC
Oh, I get it now! I am really sorry for all the problems and all your time that I wasted!

I accidentally uploaded a 32 bits version of Krita to the Windows Store. And you got that as an update, and that only can handle very small images. I fixed that on Friday, and the 64 bits version is in the store since Monday. I'm not sure how fast Microsoft updates everyone with the previous version, but you can use the stable nightly in the meantime.

I really should have realized that once I saw 2GB of RAM...
Comment 18 SyrenityBloom 2020-11-03 13:36:18 UTC
Yes! I got the new update and works now! It is says it 4.4.1 just so you know I got a little scared when I saw but then I saw it said 4.4.2 in the Microsoft Store and when I opened the file it works now! :) Thank you so much once again! :)
