simplescreenrecorder is a software that works only in Xorg sessions. By the way if you try to record a video while using Wayland, you first, will get a simplescreenrecorder crash, followed after some minutes of hard drive heavy load, a Plasma session complete crash and you will be prompted back to SDDM session login. I cannot retrieve any log since coredumpctl says the dump is truncated Plasma 5.20.2 KDE Frameworks 5.75.0 Qt 5.15.1
It doesn't currently support wayland https://github.com/MaartenBaert/ssr/issues/835#issuecomment-715575832

Indeed, but it shouldn't make the session crash.
I can't reproduce here. We're going to need a backtrace from kwin: https://www.proli.net/2020/04/03/developing-kwin-wayland/
Can no longer reproduce crash in KWin. I just can reproduce a Plasma crash that is being addressed at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=428394
