(Example image attached.) OBSERVED RESULT Images show as coloured squares in the image browser. The image opens correctly in Gwenview when double-clicked. The same image loaded and re-saved in GIMP shows correctly in the image browser. EXPECTED RESULT JPG straight from the camera should appear as a thumbnail in the image browser. Hi, Andy! Thank you for your report! I am just a user, not developer, but I found that bug highly critical for my usage scenarios and I'll try to add additional data from my installation to help developers to better understand the root of problem. I download your file, add mine 2 files, place them into one folder and tried it on ``` Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75.0 Qt Version: 5.15.1 Kernel Version: 5.8.16-2-MANJARO OS Type: 64-bit ``` But in my case I see the thumbnail of the photo in browser mode in `gwenview` `20.08.2` (see attached snapshot). What if it is fixed in current release? May be you can check it on current version of `KDE` and `gwenview` for example by update or to load (and update also) from from a latest LiveCD?

Still exists in Gwenview 21.12.3 on Kubuntu 22.04. Problem only happens when "Low resource usage mode" is enabled in Gwenview's advanced settings. Duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423431. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 423431 ***
