ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This bug doesn't affect the copy of documents to a device or folder. The copy of videos from an external device to the HDD of the computer also fails with the same error message.

If you are referring to the "Videos" entry in the **Search For** group, think again. Its not a physical storage location, you can't write to it.

A video to understand how this bug behaves

Obviously this bug has not been understood and marked as RESOLVED.So I attach a video to see how this bug behaves.Since the last update I can now copy a video from the computer's HDD to an external harddrive,(before that that failed too)but the opposite way,a copy from an external USB device to the computer is still not possible or a copy from a folder to another folder, say from the home folder to the video folder. The latter is only possible in Wayland. The error message is always the same: " Writing in baloosearch is not supported".The bug is still active and marking it as "RESOLVED" is not right.
Comment 3 Stefan Brüns 2020-10-30 20:11:34 UTC
The "Videos" folder is a virtual folder, you can not copy to it.

The group in the places panel which contains the "Videos" entry is clearly marked as "Search for".

Obviously, you have not read my answer.

There's no need for rudeness. Remember that you're a technical expert here and the user is not. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. :)

That said, Stefan is correct here. The "Videos" location under "Search For" is a virtual folder, not a real location. You can't copy anything to it.

However there is a real bug in that the Paste action shouldn't even be available at all in these locations. I think we need to set some flag or something to mark the location accordingly.

In general baloosearch can also return Folders, and as these *are* real folders you can drop something to it.

Now I understand the problem. You refer to the search-for group in Dolphin.I wasn't aware of that.I apologize for that.Such search-for groups don't exist in other Desktop Env.I actually use Manjaro Cinnamon and in Nemo there are only 3 groups: Places,Devices and Network and that's enough. So,I rearranged the sidebar in Dolphin.I added the folders Video,Pictures,Audio,Documents to the places group and deleted the search-for group. There's no need for that.If you want to search for a video, you can do that in the Videos folder.Click on the search icon in the upper right and you can search for videos.I follow a principle in Archlinux: Keep it simple and stupid (KISS).
Now the copy from an external drive or from folder to folder works now, because there are now "real" folders in the places group.
Some thoughts at last.I never used Kde Plasma on a daily basis. At the moment I'm testing Archlinux KDE on an external harddisk.I continuously learn and my knowledge about KDE grows every day.In other desktops I have reached a certain experience and can also handle issues in Archlinux,as I have done many times. So be patient with me!
So the whole affair can now be classified.

That requires 4 clicks instead of 1, and a lot of mouse movement. Going with that train of thoughts, you only need a single entry in the places panel, everything else can be navigated from the root folder ...

You can also add custom search queries to the search group.
