SUMMARY Replying to encrypted email crashes contact unless additional steps are taken. Receive an encrypted email, STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Receive an encrypted email. 2. Reply to that email using encryption. 3. Push the send button. OBSERVED RESULT Kontact will crash. EXPECTED RESULT Kontact give email to akonadi to send email SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Opensuse Tumbleweed 2020-10-02 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0 Qt Version: 5.15.1 Kernel: 5.8.10-1 x86_64 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Crash can be avoided by unchecking encryption and checking it again. To do this: STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Receive an encrypted email. 2. Reply to that email using encryption. 3. Uncheck encryption of email (from button) 4. check encryption of email 5. Push the send button. Kontact is not crashing and sending email normally

Unfortunately, I have no dev version installed (I know I should). Even if started in a terminal, there is nothing. The app just crashes without even a core dump or leaving "segmentation fault" In the Window. I have talked to the people in IRC and they said something was fixed in master. But I installed latest TW release and it still happens.

I do not use kmail2 anymore. It has eaten too much of my valuable email. The encryption worked in later versions, but synchronization (imap/calendar etc) was so crappy that I stopped using kontact. Sorry. You can close this bug.
