Description retired 2020-10-12 19:44:08 UTC
SUMMARY
I am not sure if this should go here or on pipewire bugtracker, but apparently it works on GNOME based on https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/291

Problems encountered:
1. Media keys only change volume one step forward and one back, so for example if volume is set to 60 then it can be only changed between 60-70.
2. Volume status is not in sync in between popup and applet, applet is wrong when using media keys.
3. Can't change volume with mouse via applet, can be changed with mouse wheel however same problem as in 1.
4. If sound gets muted by key then unmuting only works via applet.

Pipewire activated by following steps in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PipeWire

pipewire 0.3.13

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1
Kernel Version: 5.8.14-zen1-1-zen
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-3720QM CPU @ 2.60GHz
Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa DRI Intel® HD Graphics 4000

Hi, thanks for reporting!

I have no experience with Pipewire as PulseAudio replacement yet, but I hope I can give it a try and see what's going on soon

Looking at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/298 this seems to be resolved in pipewire master. Can you confirm that?
Comment 3 retired 2020-11-11 21:13:27 UTC
Confirming, running pipewire master. All previously mentioned issues have ceased to manifest themselves.
One issue here, when changing volume there is no feedback "pop",

So, my laptop oficially switches to pipewire, whatever it changes

Thanks for the heads-up.

Will do if time allows, thanks!
There actually is another issue I have with pipewire, sound glitches. But yeah, that's a story for another but report.
