SUMMARY Running Neon unstable, since a few weeks ago I started noticing that when switching between activities using the "walk through activities" (or "walk through activities (reverse)"), in the destination activity no window has the focus - no window has an active border and if I hit the "window operations menu" shortcut, nothing comes up (showing no window is active). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set up two or more activities 2. Set up "walk through activities" keyboard shortcut (it should be on by default to "Meta + Tab") 3. Open some windows in one activity 4. Switch to another activity and open some more windows 5. Switch back to the first activity OBSERVED RESULT No window is active on the first activity EXPECTED RESULT The last window that was active on the first activity, before switching, should be active when switching back. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.80 (but I think it was a problem in 5.19.90) KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0 Qt Version: 5.15.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION kwin is installed from the Neon unstable repositories and is currently at package version 4:5.19.5+p20.04+git20201012.0328-0 It is important to note that using the activity menu to switch activities works fine(!!) - the problem is only when switching using the "walk through activities" global keyboard shortcut. Also - switching to another virtual desktop in the same activity works fine and the correct window is made active on the destination virtual desktop, but when switching to another activity with the global keyboard shortcut, even if the new activity is currently on another virtual desktop, there will be no active window.
I initially though that it could be related to bug #265130, but I am not using any "show on all activities" application and I also do not have any notes on the desktop.
I'm afraid Plasma 5.19.5 is unfortunately no longer eligible for support or maintenance from KDE. Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the next one. Please update to Plasma 5.27 as soon as your distro offers it to you. If you need support for Plasma 5.19.5, please contact your distro, who bears the responsibility of providing support for older non-LTS releases. If this issue is still reproducible in either Plasma 5.27 (the current LTS version) or Plasma 5.27.7 (the latest released version), feel free to re-open this bug report. Thanks for understanding!
