Description Bernhard Lindner 2020-10-09 09:21:59 UTC
In smb3k 3.0.4 there are no shares listed in user defined setting, no matter what I do. In a different version (the one used in repositories of outdated KDE Neon 18.04) smb4k used to show shares there and I was able to modify them as intended.

Well, last week the shares suddenly where available in my work PC (fresh Kubuntu 20.04 installation) in user defined settings. If found this accidentally while clicking through the settings. I have no idea why they are visible now and I have no idea if I did something to make them visible.

On the other hand, on my private PC (also fresh installation of Kubuntu 20.04) the defines settings shared folder list is still empty and I can't make the shared to appear.

The last sentence should read
"On the other hand, on my private PC (also a fresh installation of Kubuntu 20.04) the shared folder list in user defined settings is still empty and I can't make the shares to appear."

(is there no way to edit comments?!)

I cannot reproduce this problem. Is it still relevant?
Comment 4 Bernhard Lindner 2020-10-27 21:58:33 UTC
Yes it is. There seems to be something that causes the shared folder list in user defined settings to be (partially) populated, but that event seems to be pretty random.

Today I used the configured smb4k (7 shares) on my private PC again. I mounted 3 of the 7 shares. I checked the list and it was still empty. After I read your comment I checked again and - Hey presto! - 2 of the shares now appear in the list. But why didn't they never appear immediately after configuring them? Why didn't they appear on first use? Why do 2 shares appear while I mounted 3 of them in the session today? Why do 3 shares appear while I have configured 7?
