STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a link in a current directory "sudo -- ln -s /lib/systemd/system/my_new.service" 2. Find the link, open it in editor edit and save 3. Enter the password in "authorization required" dialog OBSERVED RESULT The link is deleted and a plain file is created in the current directory EXPECTED RESULT Editor should follow the link and create a file in /lib/systemd/system/ directory SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Ubuntu 20.04 KDE Frameworks 5.68.0 Qt 5.12.8 (built against 5.12.8) The xcb windowing system
Hi, can you reproduce the same effect opening the symlink from Kate?
Yes Kate behavior is the same. If the link target exists everything works as expected, it shows the dialog and then follow the link and write the file there. The issue is only caused by dangling links.
