Description ratijas 2020-10-02 20:57:52 UTC
SUMMARY

Currently KHelpCenter lacks any multi-window or multi-tab support. Which makes it extremely useless: one can open as many Konsole terminals running manual pages, but only one page at KHelpCenter at a time.

This brings us to a second, closely related issue.

Multi-instance is also unsupported -- which would be good if only we had multi-window or multi-tabs. I tried running second instance while first one was minimized: visually nothing happened at all.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Main issue:
1. Launch KHelpCenter
2. Try opening any two articles at the same time.

Secondary issue:
1. Launch KHelpCenter
2. Minimize the-main-and-the-only window
3. Launch KHelpCenter's second instance

OBSERVED RESULT
Main issue:
There's no way having two articles open at the same time.

Secondary issue:
Nothing visually happens.

EXPECTED RESULT
Main issue:
Multiple windows and/or tabs should be supported.

Secondary issue:
I would expend one of these to happen:
- Open second window
- Open new tab
- At least bring minimized window to front

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Just a suggestion. All the KDE application documentation is available for viewing online. For English, start here:

https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/

Browse the various subdirectories for the application you wish to consult. For instance, "kmail2" is in the "pim" subdirectory:

https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/pim/kmail2/

You can open those HTML pages in Firefox, or Chromium, or some other browser with tabbing support, and use just as many tabs as your little heart desires.
