The properties window freezes in the middle of the screen. 3. Not only that, the canvas underneath become darken a bit so its so hard to see the changes. Are you using the appimage, the Ubuntu repository, the Lime ppa, a snap package or a flatpack? Please post a copy of Help -> Show system information for bug reports. Note: You're using a Filter Mask, not a Filter Layer (easily mixed up).
Filter Mask and Filter Layer are both in the same problem. I'm using the appimage.

I don't see this happening with the 4.3.0 appimage on Ubuntu 20.04.1 with the MATE desktop. Did it happen with the 4.2.9 appimage and does it happen with every image you try with the 4.3.0 appimage? The darkening is most probably your windows manager's fault: you can turn it off in settings, I believe. I don't know what is it about the properties window but it might be a setting for window manager (like "lock/show the modal windows in the center" or something like that). Please check your settings.
