Kdenlive is pretty great. Good work to all of you. That said, I do have a few complaints. 1. Why aren't "Go To Project Start" |<< and "Go To Project End" >>| default buttons on the clip monitor? They are pretty damn useful. Same goes for "Go To Clip Start/End". I thought these would be a standard on every video editor. 2. Okay. I just clicked one of the 5 layouts in the top-right corner... Now how do I switch back to the original layout? I honestly have no idea... Proposal: Add "Default" to the list OR make it so when you click the layout a second time, it reverts back to default. i.e. click "Logging" once (Logging is now highlighted), click "Logging" again (Logging is now unhighlighted). 3. Add an option to turn off anti-aliasing on Text. Thanks for reading.
Thanks for your report! 1. a valid feature request, nothing to add 2. on a fresh install (or if you delete [instruction for linux] ~./config/kdenliverc, ~/.config/kdenlive-layoutsrc and ~/.config/kdenlive-appimagerc) "editing" is the default. If you just updated there are might some leftovers of an old installation. 3. can you explain this point a bit more (maybe with a screenshot)? I don't really understand what you want… (e.g. which text? the UI text, title clip text,…)
Hi Julius. Thanks for getting back to me. Just opened kdenlive and clicked Editing, and now I have two preview monitors and an audio mixer. Is this the expected layout for a clean install? I thought the default layout looked like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqifJqeiXu0&t=252s Yeah. I meant on title clip text. I mainly wanted this feature for a project I was working on with low resolution gameplay videos, but ended up creating the title cards in PowerPoint.
The default layout changed with 20.08 when we introduced several layouts for different purposes like Color, Audio,… (see https://kdenlive.org/en/2020/08/kdenlive-20-08-is-out/) and the new default is "Editing". However you can rearrange the layout and save custom ones in the "View" menu. The first five layouts in View > Manage Layouts are shown in the top right of the application window. With 21.04 (coming in April 2021) you can even import/export layouts to use with another installation.
