SUMMARY I open a big text file. Scroll using preview on the right. On button release whole wayland session crashes and Im put back in login screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open file with kate 2. Scroll using preview window on the right by grabbing it with left click mouse 3. Release mouse click OBSERVED RESULT Whole wayland session crashes EXPECTED RESULT Scrolling stops and I can view where I am. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0 Qt Version: 5.15.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Tested this on a fresh installation of neon-unstable-20200920-0330.iso under VirtualBox, but I'm not able to reproduce... The described steps don't lead to a crash for me even under Wayland session.
I created a new user with a fresh config to test that. Same thing, crashes to sddm.
We got a backtrace, it was the ShadowInterface buffer issues, which was was resolved after 5.19.90 but before 5.20
Can you please re-test with 5.20.
