I found a good use case to justify this feature: When browsing `/usr/share/icons/hicolor/` for icons, you have several folders and some programs only put icons in one or two folders. If you want to find the source file of a certain icon you find in in the system icon browser, you have look through a massive amounts of folders. Here's where drill down comes in handy. It opens all of the folders at the same time and you can easily browse those icons with your eyes.
