Description robotlandscape 2020-09-02 19:12:11 UTC
SUMMARY
Title. I had gnu emacs open in fullscreen (activated using f11) and I tried out minimizing it using C-z (control z). It minimized, then the screen went black for about 30 seconds before coming back.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open emacs (I was in the tutorial) and press f11 to go to fullscreen
2. Press control z to minimize to taskbar

OBSERVED RESULT
Kwin crashes. I could move between desktops (because my mouse moves to the next desktop always) and the corners highlight as I move to them, but nothing else works. My widgets, the taskbar, the wallpaper all didn't show.

EXPECTED RESULT
Emacs minimizes without drama.

I can't reproduce this bug with kwin 5.18 built from source code. Have you installed any kwin scripts? also since it's a crash, a backtrace would be really helpful with diagnosing the root cause of the crash.

You can retrieve the backtrace by clicking a sad face icon in the system tray after kwin has crashed. Make sure that you have installed all relevant debug packages for kwin before attempting to retrieve the backtrace.

This bug report is quite old and lacks proper debug information. Can you still reproduce this issue with KDE 5.23? If so, can you please install debugging packages following the info provided in https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports, try to reproduce the bug and submit a backtrace with debugging information.
