Hi, detour27! Can you share the failing file with me? If it is not allowed to be published, you can send it to my mail: dimula73 at gmail dot com Without the file I cannot help much. Please also attach the contents of Help->Show Krita log for bugreports, it might have some clues.
Created attachment 131061 [details] save file that came up blank Thanks for looking into this, I realize it was less than helpful bug report.

truthfully, recovering the work isn't that important. The issue did shake my confidence in using Krita as my main image editor though. Hopefully this can be resolved. Thanks again!
Thanks for your comment! Automatically switching the status of this bug to REPORTED so that the KDE team knows that the bug is ready to get confirmed. In the future you may also do this yourself when providing needed information.
Hi, detour27! The attached file has a single green brush spot at the area behind the canvas bounds (at position 1088,448 px). Does it remind you anything? https://pasteboard.co/JnPCBaI.png And autosave has two green spots to the right of the canvas edge: https://i.imgur.com/dN6u66q.png The logs don't show any technical trouble while saving, and the files look perfectly correct format-wise. Perhaps you have somehow accidentally overwritten the file with some other open file? E.g. in 'Windowed' mode you had some other document active while saving?
Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I suppose I'll chalk this up to tiredness and unfamiliarity with Krita. I've been unable to reproduce the issue myself as well. Please consider the issue resolved (user error). If I can find a way to reproduce the issue consistently I'll reopen this issue.
Hi, detour27! Thanks a lot for your reply! Please don't hesitate to reopen the bug if you encounter it again. The issue sounds really critical :)
