STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Set panel's visibility to auto hide
2. Open the menu

OBSERVED RESULT

Menu opens at the middle of the panel

EXPECTED RESULT

Menu opens above the panel

It seems that it happens with all notifications

The title talks about notifications but the text talks about "the menu". Can you clarify what you're referring to? A screenshot would help too.

I initially thought it was just the simple menu. After a reboot I noticed that all the notifications show up in the middle of the panel

Oh I see, you mean *overlapping* the panel. Can reproduce. SimpleMenu is affected because it's not using the Sliding Popups effect, which connects it to the panel.

mozilla add-on

I just noticed that it affects firefox add-ons as well as the search bar which opens when you press ctrl+F.
From this, it seems that the panel gets moved out of the screen rather then getting hidden
