SUMMARY
Discover's settings should have the ability to switch between automatic updates, upgrades, or to do nothing, as well as set the frequency and time to do so. Currently most people will tell you to create a cron job, or to install and run a system-dependent command line package for auto-upgrades, neither of which are very new user friendly. As discover notifies about updates already, it's confusing to ask users to do upgrades via a second path, and annoying to many users to open Discover each day to apply their upgrades.

Ideally for unattended upgrades I would like the option for a notification about what was upgraded so I can restart the program if needed, and because I like seeing what my system is doing.

We now have preliminary support for this! Check out System Settings > Software Updates.
