Description Alan Prescott 2020-08-03 15:50:38 UTC
SUMMARY
There used to be an option to open a specific session in the Kate Sessions menu - 'Open Session' if I remember correctly - which is missing in this release

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch Kate
2. Open Sessions menu
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Options:
  New
  Quick Open Sessions
  Manage Sessions
  Save Session
  Save Session As

EXPECTED RESULT
Should have an option to open any session - "Open Session"?

Qt Version: 5.12.7
Kernel Version: 5.3.18-lp152.33-default
OS Type: 64-bit

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

"Manage Sessions" actually includes "Open Sessions".

Should we perhaps rename that action?
Comment 2 Alan Prescott 2020-08-12 06:23:00 UTC
Maybe - but it's not very intuitive. 'Open' is such a standard option I would have thought users would be more likely to expect an Open Sessions without a Quick Open Sessions option and the more logical list would be
  New
  Open Session
  Recent Sessions
  Manage Sessions
  Save Session
  Save Session As
But the simplest fix would be just to re-instate Open Session

Christoph can we move this to a wishlist and if you're happy to, implement it?

What can we do here?

Manage Session can't be renamed to Open Sessions because that would be incorrect.

We have "All Sessions" => open the session using this and "Recent Session" which can also be used to open a session. So, do we need to change anything?

I think the current state is ok.
