Description Leon De Andrade 2020-08-03 15:24:02 UTC
SUMMARY

Selecting text in the search of okular doesn't give the search bar focus if you select by holding the left mouse button (and not double click)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the search
2. Type something in it
3. Click somewhere else, so the search bar loses focus
4. Try to remove the text in the search bar (It's important that you don't do double click, but actually select the text by holding the left mouse button)

OBSERVED RESULT

I jump a few lines back in the document

EXPECTED RESULT

The search bar would gain focus and the search text would be deleted like it does when you double click the text to select it.

Hi,
sorry for the long wait. I forgot about it.

I uploaded a video, but it's kinda hard to see I guess, because you don't see , where and what I click.

So here is a short desciption of what I did:
1. Open up the search bar with ctrl + f
2. Type in "Hello"
3. Search for it by pressing enter
4. Click somewhere on the document, so the search bar loses focus (notice the blue line disappearing)
5. Go to the search bar and select the text. This is the important step to actually reproduce it I think.
- Mark by dragging the mouse not double click
- Don't select the search bar before you select the text. Just go with your mouse on the search bar without clicking and select directly by dragging.
6. Press the delete key and observe that it scroll on the page instead of deleting the text

Compare it with the behaviour of double clicking the text for selection. Doing it like this, the search bar actually gains focus. With my way, the search bar doesn't get focus.

I hope this was clear enough, it's not so easy to describe

You could answer my original question

"are you using Plasma?"

also a new question "Are you using any custom style? i.e. anything that isn't Breeze"
Comment 9 Leon De Andrade 2020-08-21 15:40:40 UTC
I do use plasma 5.194 and I only use breeze stuff at the moment.
