I tried to reproduce the bug with AppImage, and it works fine
with kdenlive-20.04.1b-x86_64.appimage and kdenlive-20.08.0-x86_64.appimage!

Where do I search for this packaging problem (that seems to depend on HW anyway)?

I see such packaging issue very often under Linux. Make a feedback to the distribution/packager you used under which the bug occurs. If the AppImage is working keep it.

We close this bug. If it still appears in the latest version, please feel free to re-open it and update the affected version number.
