SUMMARY Ark fails to extract a file from a rar archive, when b1freearchiver extracts it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open the rar archive 2. select "extract" OBSERVED RESULT the progress bar blinks but nothing happens. the same file can be extracted without problem by b1freearchiver. the size of the file is 700Mb. the archive has the particularity that two subfolders are created when extracted. EXPECTED RESULT Extraction of the file. 1. Have you installed RAR/unrar and/or The Unarchiver? 2. Have you enabled the corresponding plugin in Ark? 3. You said "the progress bar blinks but nothing happens" and the file is 700 MB. Have you tried waiting longer to see if the extraction would finish?
1-No ; btw, Ark is the default app for rar files, and opens and extracts other rar files without problem. 2- the RAR plugin is enabled, but greyed. 3- Actually, the progress bar blinks just one instant, and then you're back to the main window. When you manage with big files, the progress bar stays for a longer time.(just tried it with another rar file, and it worked ok.)
Changing back to REPORTED status. In that RAR archive, is there any file with special characters (e.g. čžá) (Bug 422964)?
