SUMMARY When Secondary pen button is prepressed when is put in range of tablet makes it act like an eraser tip automatically changing the brush even if the button is assigned to something else (modifier ctrl) the primary button works fine. This issue isnt present in other art programs which are set up the same way. Using a dell canvas with windows 10 all drivers updated STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Hold down secondary pen button 2. Put it to the screen OBSERVED RESULT Tool automatically switches to eraser or brush selected during the eraser is selected EXPECTED RESULT Selected canvas interaction in this case colour picker (shortcut is selected as ctrl+ left click) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: windows 10 latest version ADDITIONAL INFORMATION If there is a way to turn of the "eraser tip" brush swap within krita that would also work. I hope this is enough info.
It would be good if you knew what APi your other programs use: Wintab or Windows Ink. If so, please tell us the name of the program and the API. Try to switch Krita to Windows Ink and restart your PC: https://docs.krita.org/en/contributors_manual/user_support.html#quick-solutions Tbh it's really difficult to investigate issues like that, because between Krita and your hand holding a stylus there is lots and lots of software and configuration. It's enough if one of them is misconfigured and puff, it doesn't work in Krita.
ahh sorry its one of the trickier issues, I predominantly use windows ink but I have also tried switching it to wintab and still had the same issue, For the other program i use Clip studio paints "tablet PC" option from my perspective is that if the secondary button is pre-pressed when coming into contact to the tablet it responds like its the eraser button even if it isn't set up that way, what i did for software between stylus in hand and krita in more detail if it helps is hopefully: Windows settings - (win10 settings - is set so the buttons dont do anything and leave control up to apps) - (windows pen&touch settings are set so none of the pen buttons act as an eraser) Canvas pen (dells wacom based pen software) set up the secondary as a modifier (ctrl) it seems to do the same when also set up as a key stroke since I tried to switch the bindings of the buttons and it still persists with the secondary button. thanks again for your time and any help you can give.

Thanks for your comment! Automatically switching the status of this bug to REPORTED so that the KDE team knows that the bug is ready to get confirmed. In the future you may also do this yourself when providing needed information.

"I predominantly use windows ink but I have also tried switching it to wintab and still had the same issue" Did you switch it in the tablet driver settings (like in Pen&Touch or in Dell software), or in Krita? I meant for you to do it in Krita. And after that, you need to restart your PC (no one knows why but it does seem like sometimes if you don't restart, you don't see the changes). What function should that button have, btw? In Configure Krita -> Tablet Settings there are a few checkboxes that you can check out since they provide some workarounds for common tablet issues, but I'm not sure if it applies here.

I switched it in Krita and have restarted it, the button currently is a key modifier to (CTRL) and in krita it is set to colour picker so when i hold the button and press with my stylus it acts as a foreground colour picker.I tried the button under tablet settings but it didnt help, I did notice when i used tablet tester when holding the button and bringing it close to the tablet it says "Eraser brough near" if that is any help.
