Description andre.fritzsch 2020-07-26 11:38:17 UTC
SUMMARY
Krusader crashs after the command F6 (move files) - since about March 2020

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Files in both panels are on level user rights (rwx). The bug seems not to be depending from media (removable or not). No difference if there is an overwrite included.
2. Marking one or more files
3. type F6

OBSERVED RESULT
One/the first file will be copied to the other panel. Then Krusader crashs.

EXPECTED RESULT
One/all files will be copied to the other panel and then deleted in the initially panel.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: OpenSuse Leap 15.1 with all updates, 64 Bit
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.9.7

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
4 x AMD A10-6700 with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
7,0 GB
In MC, Double commander, Dolphin it is possible to move files without any problem, undepending from user level.
The kind of file and it's size seem to have no influence.

Do you have a crash report?

Is there a file with the same name in the destination folder? In that case, do you see the KIO window asking for an action?

You said you can do the same operation in Dolphin (which means it shouldn't be a KIO bug), but without a trace it's hard to find the lines of code involved.

Hi David,

thanks for your answer. I'm not a specialist in computing, only a user
with some experience.

I hope, the screenshots are helpful.

I had downloaded some exe-files. After this I started Krusader, marked
this 17 files on the right source window (download folder) and then I
used F5 (because of my bad experiences with F6) to copy to another
folder in the left window of krusader (destination folder). I had the
intention to delete files on the right sight after this - Krusader
crashed during copying the third file. I did not change any rights.

Then I started to copy single files. By copying the first and the second
file - no problem. And they have been copied before - by the first
action. The third single file causes the crash. Crash report did not
work (I was acting as sudo!).

So what can I do?? I like Krusader and use it from my beginning with
OpenSuse 9.x

After this: Double commander 1.0.0 alpha did the work. Dolphin did the
work once again. MC did the work also (and I was not the sudo!).

I'm sure, it is a task of krusader.

I hope I could help. I wish you a lot of success. Thanks for your work.

André

You should copy the output from the "Developer Information" tab from the first screenshot; if it says it is not useful, you should use the debug packages, as said in the second screen.

Follow this guide up to 1.3 : https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports

Also, do you have preview active on tabs (source or destination)? View - Show Preview; if yes, can you try with this option disabled?

See the first information from me - the problem consists still on.

"Ausführbare Datei: krusader PID: 7434 Signal: Segmentation fault (11) Datum: 20.09.20 23:06:03"

All the facts I reported are unchanched. If I want to generate a crash report, the assistent wants me to install some debug-symbols, because the report without these wouldn't be helpfull. The console is opening, the install process starts, then comes a message in red, that there is no such repository (it was to fast for me to look the name of the repository). Then it ends.

What can I do?
