Description sterg79 2020-07-23 03:34:53 UTC
SUMMARY
When the contents of a mounted samba share are modified remotely, dolphin does not refresh the view. Even navigating to a different folder and then back or closing and reopening does not trigger a refresh. Only manual refresh with F5 updates the view.

I can go as far as closing dolphin, reopen it a few seconds later and files that had been deleted are still there. When I try to access them I get an error that they don't exist obviously and finally the view is updated.

Furthermore, when having multiple dolphin windows open, manually refreshing the view in one window does not trigger a refresh in the other windows.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Mount a samba shared folder
2. View the contents of this folder in dolphin
3. Add/delete/modify files in this folder from another computer

OBSERVED RESULT
The contents of the folder remain unchanged until a manual refresh command is issued or an error is encountered trying to access the files.

EXPECTED RESULT
The contents of the folder should be updated almost instantly.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 20.04
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.12.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Modifying the contents of the folder locally through a terminal window does trigger a refresh. It's only when the changes happen remotely that a refresh isn't triggered.

Finally, doing the opposite (modifying the contents of the folder in dolphin while watching it on a win10 file explorer window) triggers an instant refresh in file explorer.
