Created attachment 130323 [details] link SUMMARY basically when you increase zoom on hover it becomes a dock STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. go to edit panel 2. apparance >> zoom on hover OBSERVED RESULT the panel changes to a dock and applies zoom on hover. EXPECTED RESULT the panel stay a panel and applies zoom on hover SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Manjaro KDE 5.19.3 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.3. KDE Frameworks Version: 5.73.0 Qt Version: 5.15.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION to enable space between the expanded applet/widget and the panel. this is only available when zoom on hover is enabled. even when zoom on hover is activated there is no space between the expanded system tray applet and the panel
You can not have zoom on hover in Panel mode. It is not possible from technology point of view.

The popup positioning is plasma frameworks responsibility. Its placement follows the following rules: 1. Its vertical positioning is relevant to the item triggered the popup 2. Its horizontal positioning is restricted to the window boundaries from which it was triggered So this is not possible, if you want something else you should contact and persuaded plasma devs.
