SUMMARY
currently, when the unplug sound is played, the volume of other applications isn't decreased. This can lead to strange sounds when one application plays sound and this mixes together with the unplug sound. The solution would be to decrease to other applications' volume while the unplug sound is playing.

In pulseaudio terms this is "module-role-ducking" you could configure notifications locally to be in the trigger-roles.

Can you elaborate on "strange sounds"?

I have a feeling that if we actually had this we would actually just find that people find it annoying to have their podcast/whatever interrupted as they move between rooms.

It just sounds strange, depending on what is played: music/podcasts/voice recordings.

I suggest to have a setting which would turn it off, if people want to disable it.

I have the same feeling. :)

Listening to the recording, I admit I don't hear anything wrong with it. Sure, the sound is overlaid on top of the music, but, I dunno, it doesn't bug me. :)

Vote to close since there is a local workaround possible.

Ok, then I will close it :)
