Description Janek 2020-07-08 12:35:50 UTC
When right-clicking on an image in the top row in preview mode, nothing happens. I have to switch back to thumbnail mode every time I want to perform an action using the rightclick menu.

In preview mode it is only a thumbnail bar to change the image. There is a context menu above the image. I don't think we'll change it.

I often preview a few images, and then I'd like to move, tag or delete multiple of them. I can already do a multi-selection in the thumbnail-bar, why not support the right click menu as well?

Right now I constantly switch between the two view modes, which is quite annoying.

I find the current behavior un-intuitive. If you select multiple images in the Preview Mode, then you can still do operations on them, but you need to right click on the preview. For example, you select 5 images and want to add them to the batch queue manager. You must first move down to the single preview image and then right click.

Or another example is Rotate or Move to Trash in the right click menu would operate on multiple images, where you only right clicked on the big preview.

Just adding my voice to the sentiment that it should be possible to right-click thumbnails in Preview mode.

I encourage a re-thinking. Instead of talking about what the thumbnail bar is for, let's ask what the thumbnails themselves are for - and what we should be able to do with them.

If I multi-select 3 thumbnails in the thumbnail bar in Preview mode, and want to rotate all of them, it's logical I should be able to right-click on one of the thumbnails in my selection then choose rotate. My intention is to rotate all of the selected images. If I wanted to rotate just the current picture that is being previewed, then it would be fitting to right-click on the previewed picture.

Anyway multiple people have commented on this, just wanted to add my voice.

I strongly support right-click menu on the Preview strip.

For example:

While in Preview I edit an image with Image Editor.
I save the result as a new version.
I want to group the original and the new version.

However as there's no right-click menu, I have to switch out of Preview, do the grouping and then switch back to Preview to continue my workflow.

Why not do the grouping (or whatever else) directly in Preview?

The Thumbnail Bar is an image selector, nothing more, but can group via drag and drop.
