SUMMARY After a fresh installation of Manjaro KDE 20.0.3, Plasma started to glitch (freezing) for ~10 seconds after I gave a little more "heavy load" to my notebook. The notebook was connected to the power grid. By "heavy load" I mean copying 20Gb of data from Android to laptop. As soon as the copy process started and I saw a notice about how the copy process was going, Plasma would periodically freeze, and sometimes the system just freezes for ~10 seconds, and there was nothing left but wait. I also noticed that if I somehow interacted with Plasma, it only made things worse, like when I was adjusting the sound or brightness, because the logo/animation of the sound/brightness adjustment appeared on the screen and Plasma was freezing even more. I was able to completely solve the problem by disabling 'tlp': 1) sudo systemctl stop tlp 2) sudo systemctl disable tlp 3) reboot STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Just copying some stuff and interact with Plasma components SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Manjaro KDE 20.0.3 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0 Qt Version: 5.15.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Kernel: 5.6.16-1-MANJARO x86_64 CPU: Intel Core i7-8550U RAM: 16Gb DDR4-2400 Graphics: Device-1: Intel UHD Graphics 620 driver: i915 v: kernel Device-2: NVIDIA GP108M [GeForce MX150] driver: nvidia v: 440.82 Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.8 driver: modesetting, nvidia resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz OpenGL: renderer: GeForce MX150/PCIe/SSE2 v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 440.82
Whilst copying did you have one of those spinning indicators in the tray?
