Description Dave Dixon 2020-07-03 07:32:56 UTC
SUMMARY

I made a project in 640x360 25.00fps. It was the common denominator for all the clips I had.

When the project was done, I converted the Project Settings to HD 1080p 25fps

What happened next depended on the version of kdenlive

In 20.04.1 it moved all the content into the upper left corner, so that all clips had the
same pixel dimensions as in 640x360

In 20.07.70 it appeared that kdenlive and converted all the clips to have the same proportions
on the screen as the they did in 640x360. The resolution looked really good. This worked for
evertying except title clips, which didn't appear in any way expected. When I tried to edit
the title, kdenlive popped up and informational modal saying "This title clip was created with
a different frame size." When I clicked okay, it put me an the editor with the transparent
background in 640x360, but the red frames in 1080p, and no way I could find to expand the
transparent area to the full size of the frame (1080p). So I had to create all new Title Clips
(there were a lot of them). A few other things had to be edited, namely keyframed Position
and Zoom. So I spent an hour or so converting the content. Then I saved it and came back to it
later, and now everything is up in the upper left corner, like in 20.04.1

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a video in 640x360 25.00fps and save it.
2. Load it and set Project resolution to HD 1080p 25fps
3. Make same edits and save
4. Reload and it doesn't look the same - everything is up in the upper left corner

OBSERVED RESULT
In the same session after converting the resolution, everything looked fine. After a save and a reload, everything was up in the upper left corner.

EXPECTED RESULT
I expect the saved project to look the same after I load it as it did when I saved it.
