Crash when starting on non-rectangular multi-monitor setup

The application crashes with an assertion about screen size (see attachment) when started on a desktop with a non-rectangular screen layout.

This is on Debian Testing.

I set my layout to single monitor and it would start properly, then I set it to extend horizontally and it was still fine. When I set it so that there is a void above monitor one (left) and a void under monitor two (right) it would not start. A running instance would crash.

This should not crash anymore with current git code (see bug 423303), but at least we now have some information on what kind of setup triggers the assert, as the first reporter never gave an answer to that question.
