Description Roland Grimmer 2020-06-28 16:17:51 UTC
SUMMARY
When trying to use a custom-made project profile, the "Wipe" composition looses its methods except the default (None(Dissolve)). When reverting to a preset project profile, wipe methods reappear.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On fresh default kdenlive installation, open kdenlive to create new project
2. Go to "Project -> Project Settings -> Manage Project Profiles"
3. Create new profile with an odd format (My Example: 768x1152 25fps (3x4) for Mobile)
4. Safe new profile and close "Manage Project Profiles" dialog
5. Select newly generated profile from custom profiles in "Project Settings" dialog and click "OK".
6. Acknowledge warning.
7. Select "Wipe" from "Composition" selector, drag to any video timeline.
8. Click wipe on the timeline
9. Click "Wipe Method" drop-down list on "Effect/Composition Stack"

OBSERVED RESULT
"Wipe Method" drop-down list should show entire list of methods available for wipe composition, but is only showing one single entry: "None(Dissolve)"

EXPECTED RESULT
As with any preset project profile "Wipe Method" drop-down list should be fully populated with all the default methods. 19 in total, including "None(dissolve)".

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux: Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon 4.0.10 Kernel:4.15.0-108-generic

Writing to add my confirmation to this bug. On a fresh installation of Manjaro and Kdenlive to a new PC I was hit with this issue.

I uninstalled the distro version of Kdenlive, then I installed the Snap version. When adding the wipe transition to an empty project I was able to see all of the wipes available. However when I loaded my own project, the only available wipe was None(Dissolve).

I uninstalled the Snap version and installed the Flatpack version, and the same things occurred, wipes there with a new empty project, gone with my own project. When I uninstalled the Flatpack and installed Kdenlive from the distro again, I was not able to see any wipes at all, not even on a new empty project.

UPDATE: As a test I switched my project format from the included DV/DVD NTSC format to the included 1080P HD format, and the wipe methods reappeared. I also spot-checked some of the 720p formats and they worked as well.

So it appears that using a non-standard or non-HD format causes the wipe methods to disappear. And switching to a standard HD format will bring them back.

the "Wipe" composition still works okay, just that it's method is not controllable/changeable. The missing options within the method selector combo list (reside at composition stack properties dock) does not damage the "Wipe", by means rendering still works fine and produce desired output.

This indeed very confusing but not a "bug" at all. The items on the combo box depend on the project resolution / aspect ratio and kdenlive does not have the same wipes for the different cases. However the behavior has slightly been improved for upcoming 21.04, but I keep this open as it is not completely solved
