Created attachment 129607 [details] Previous settings window. SUMMARY In previous versions of Plasma, there was originally an option to set URLs to open in different applications based on their contents. For example, an image link clicked on might be opened up in Gwenview. As of Plasma 5.19 however, this option is not present. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set Web Browser in Default Applications setting to desired web browser. 2. Open image link from a chat application/text document OBSERVED RESULT Image is opened in the default web browser. EXPECTED RESULT A setting to allow such links to be opened in specific applications ought to be here. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Yes, I'm afraid this feature was removed in Plasma 5.19. Its existence was causing a number of other bugs, and we got a lot of complaints that this behavior was not what people expected. It seems that today people want HTTP/HTTPS links to always open in a web browser if possible.

It seems that today people want > HTTP/HTTPS links to always open in a web browser if possible. That's very understandable. Plus, I managed to find a way to open up HTTP/HTTPS links in different applications even on Plasma 5.19, so no harm done; things are back to normal for me.
Great, I'm happy to hear it!
I'll need the old system settings back as my intention is to open http:// link according to the actual file type. For example, I don't want PDFs through HTTP link to be shown in Firefox! Moreover, this now causes Konqueror to open Firefox when an http:// link is typed into the URL as well.
