Description Nate Graham 2020-06-11 02:57:42 UTC
This is probably not Kamoso's fault, but I thought I'd start here as I'm unfamiliar with the whole video stack.

The video from my laptop's camera is laggy in Kamoso (from git master). But when using BigBlueButton, the video is much smoother and there is no appreciable lag.

Happy to debug and provide logs however I can.

It's also laggy in the Zoom desktop app which I presume (?) uses the same desktop video drivers as Kamoso.

Do the video also laggy when you record it with Cheese?
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2020-10-10 21:22:49 UTC
It's less laggy with Cheese, but still not as smooth as in BigBLueButton.

My best guess so far is that gstreamer/camerabin (the component we share with cheese) is slow. No idea about zoom.

I can see it sometimes too (not always !?).

If you want to test with a surely different implementation, you can check OBS. It's also Qt but it doesn't use gstreamer.

Have you tried OBS?

This is fixed now. Must have been a drive or middleware issue.
