Description Hans Lambermont 2020-06-10 11:41:20 UTC
SUMMARY

KDEConnect keeps telling me "Turn on Documents in Settings > Installed apps first"
But in
Settings -> Installed apps -> App info -> App permissions -> KDEConnect app -> Storage is enabled.
There is no 'Documents' in there, but I assume 'Storage' is the same thing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Tap 'Filesystem expose', tap 'OK'
2. Tap '+ Add storage location', a menu pops up
3. Tap the greyed out 'Storage Location/click to select'

OBSERVED RESULT

A popup at the bottom with the text:
"Turn on Documents in Settings > Installed apps first"

EXPECTED RESULT

Either work :) or acknowledge that 'Storage' access is enabled and something else is needed still.
I suspect the error text does not capture the real problem.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDEConnect 1.14.2 from F-droid
Redmi 4
MIUI 8.0
Android 6.0.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Connecting with the desktop works, just this important part does not.
Comment 1 kdebugs 2024-09-07 01:53:27 UTC
Unable to reproduce on Android 14. Storage locations work as expected.

I guess after more than 4 years and a jump from kdeconnect from 1.14 to 1.32 and android from 6 to 14 this bug was fixed, possibly indirect.
Thanks for at least looking at it I guess :)
