SUMMARY
A while ago I opened a bug for Waterfox https://github.com/MrAlex94/Waterfox/issues/1057 I noticed now this is not Waterfox specific and instead it seems to be a kwin issue because I have this issue in Firefox 77.0.1 and even in Brave 81.1.9.76 both under KDE Neon 5.18.5 on another laptop, and Waterfox on this laptop running Manjaro (details below).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
I mention that the steps in that github bug report are not the only things that cause this! Also:
1. Open firefox or brave and place the window on another virtual desktop
2. Play some video on that desktop
3. Come back to it after... a while, not exactly sure how much
4. Window is frozen or transparent now

OBSERVED RESULT
For some reason the window is not responsive, it seems "frozen" but audio still plays. Brave still responds to mouse events (timeline for a video shows up on mouse hover as observed in an OBS test recording of this for a stream done in Brave), whereas Firefox mostly becomes transparent and additionally blurry. A simple kwin_x11 --replace seems to fix the issue, and then it comes back.

EXPECTED RESULT
These windows should not become unresponsive like that. This becomes especially annoying when I need to record some stream and then this happens.

Noticed this issue as well on arch running zen kernel. I did observe (before the widgets stopped working in last update today) that when this happens RAM usage of the system spikes and when it becomes responsive again it has released RAM.

Looks like for whatever reason Firefox eats up all RAM and then it crashes
