Hi All, for some days now, akonadi apparently fully scans the maildir whenever anything is changed, i.e. mail received, sent, deleted, etc. This process takes about 2 minutes for the 10.000 mails i have in the maildir. Beside this problem makes kmail virtually unusable for more but a few actions per day, it also has the potential to age the SSD. Unfortunately, i cannot give much further information, but i usually experience such kind of errors during scanning, when something fails to parse. Thus the issue could be triggered by some mail not formatted as it should be, perhaps. In any case, i believe it is a local issue. I write for any suggestion what i could do to further narrow the bug or work around it. I already tried without success: $ akonadictl fsck Kind regards Lars
This is likely a duplicate to Bug 422336 - kmail: the access and reading of the received messages is often very slow in combination with Bug 334209 - synchronizes folder contents during runtime needlessly and Bug 334216 - synchronizes folder with filesystem after downloading and filtering mails needlessly Means: It did this needless synchronization before, bug before the performance regression in Akonadi 5.14.1 (aka 20.04) it was much quicker and thus did not block out KMail so long.

Hi All, meanwhile the situation has been improved and kmail appears to work normally again here. I cannot provide much further information, beside that i'm running sid and only some library material has been updated. From my side, the report can be closed. Thanks Lars
Lars, okay. I believe the "does a full rescan" issue is still there, but that like with bug #422336 with Qt 5.14 that "full rescan" is much faster again. Anyway, closing on your request.
