Description John Carrick Smith 2020-05-28 11:38:32 UTC
When creating a Slideshow clip only the first picture file in the source directory is ever used. If the second or subsequent picture is selected then the first is always used in the clip.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In a directory place at least two JPEG files.
2. In a Kdenlive project select Add Slideshow Clip.
3. Navigate to the directory created in 1. above
4. Select the second (or later) picture and press the OK button.

OBSERVED RESULT
The first picture file in the list is added to the Slideshow Clip.

EXPECTED RESULT
The selected file is added to the Slideshow Clip.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: kernel 4.12.14-lp151.28.48-default (openSUSE)
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.55.0
Qt Version: 5.9.7

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Workaround is to only have the file I want in the directory.

Kdenlive 18.12.3 is very old and not maintained anymore. That issue should be fixed.
Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 20.04.1b https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/
Comment 2 John Carrick Smith 2020-06-16 15:33:04 UTC
Hello,

I have tried the AppImage for version 20.04.1b and the problem is still present.

Off topic.
How do I persuade openSUSE to update their repository?

Thanks

John

This is possible with following steps (tested with 22.08.1): right click in the project bin and select “Add Image Sequence" -> in “Image Selection Method” enable “Filename Pattern” -> open the folder with the image and select the clip you want as first clip -> click OK.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll update the documentation to make it clearer (https://docs.kdenlive.org/en/importing_and_assets_management/projects_and_files/clips.html#image-sequence-clips).
