The file at question

If "Find as you type" is switched off then "0x68" can be easily found.

If it's on then "0x6" or "x68" can be found, but once it's "0x68" something happens and the string cannot be found.

Weird things.

Switching "Find as you type" off then on and "0x68" can be found. Restart Okular and it can be found without switching as you type off.

It works fine for me without doing any switching on off.

@Art: Maybe it is related to the actual searches you did before?

Or is it "open file, type 0x68 -> nothing found"?

@Yuri do you remember if you did any searches before searching 0x68 that may have confused the search algorithm?

Click on the rightest button on the Find bar ("Options"). Click on the "Find as you type".

Maybe. I have actively switched some things when reading a reviewed article.

OK, figured it out,
"Find as you type," OFF did the trick
