SUMMARY Just try to erase a CD-RW with K3b and you'll see it will not work. Brasero is even worse since it doesn't recognize at all CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray discs.
I tried this yesterday using version 20.04.1 and it erased my CD-RW just fine.
Given the decription maybe there's something wrong in failing failing failing setup.
Uh, it's cool to see it worked for you. Maybe the problem is from the fact that I used a CD-RW 74 650 Mb or maybe it's because of my IDE and/or SATA DVD RW drive(s). On Windows 7 and 10 with the native Windows Explorer they worked well though). It's been a long time though. I'll maybe retry it someday.
