Any update on this bug? I'm on 5.20.80 and this bug is still present
I found that for me the problem was that the files were not indexed or that only a "basic indexing" was done ("balooctl status /path/to/folder/" output). I had included folders in my ~/.config/baloofiler , but the file is ignored and overwritten at restart of the service. Manually indexing does the trick: balooctl index /path/to/folder/*
Fixed according to comments.
