Created attachment 128543 [details] kwin_x11 causing high cpu usage on Wayland session SUMMARY Sometimes my cpu fan rotates faster immediately after logout, then I noticed that when such behavior occurs plasmashell or kwin_x11 process is stuck in memory and causing high cpu usage. Please see the attached screenshots showing kwin_x11 and plasmashell causing high cpu usage on Wayland session. I can't reproduce this problem consistently though. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. boot your system 2a. start and restart X11 a few times (at some point kwin_x11 will get stuck in memory after logout) 2b. start and restart Wayland session a few times (at some point plasmashell will get stuck in memory after logout) EXPECTED RESULT kwin_x11 and plasmashell should never get stuck in memory after logout SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0 Qt Version: 5.15.0 rc2

I got the same problem the first time I opened a Wayland session. Killing kwin_x11 was a workaround that worked for me.
This problem is still happening. Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0 Qt Version: 5.15.0
yesterday kwin_x11 got stuck in the memory after logout on my Arch running Plasma 5.20 beta.
With Plasma 5.20.1, when kwin_X11 process gets stuck in memory after logout, X11 session can not be started again. My system just gets stuck in SDDM after I enter my password.
