SUMMARY When removing a large number of wallpapers from the Desktop-settings menu (right click on desktop > Configure desktop) the RAM usage for plasmashell jumps to over a gigabyte and the plasma shell slows down until *something* is done loading into RAM. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add a folder full of wallpapers (My folder has 120 wallpapers in it) 2. Remove said wallpapers all at once. (click the red trashbin icon) 3. Click [OK] OBSERVED RESULT When having KSysGuard open you can see plasmashell accumulating RAM (in my case until about 2,5 GB) and the shell slows down/gets leggy until this is done. The RAM stays filled like this until the computer is rebooted. EXPECTED RESULT Barely, if any increased RAM usage, and no slowdowns. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 20.04 / Plasma 5.18.4 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Tried this on 2 different computers, same software, different hardware, happens on both.
How are you removing all wallpapers at once? You can remove a folder in the sidebar for the slideshow plugin, and you can remove individual wallpapers from the image plugin one at a time, but I'm not aware of a way to remove many at once. Can you clarify?
