Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 20.04.1b to see if there are any packaging issues https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/ If the problem/issue doesn't occur when using the AppImage, then it's your configuration or packaging.

I'm reopening this incomplete bug report. Let me know if that's a bad idea. Issue persists in 20.04.2 Someone suggested the pitch compensation option requires rubberband-ladspa package. I installed it and restarted Kdenlive but saw no change.
The error persist en kdeneon with kdenlive 21.04.2 version
Please test with the flatpak or the AppImage to see if this is a packaging issue.
Thanks for your report! As you can see from the tooltip when hovering the disabled checkbox, "MLT must be compiled with rubberband library to enable pitch correction". If your distro does not offer such version of Kdenlive, you should either: – Use another packaging type like Appimage or Flatpak as @emohr said. They both have mlt build with rubberband – Compile mlt with rubberband your self.
