SUMMARY
I configured Application Launcher on left and top edge and Show Desktop on right and bottom, but none of them seem to work

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. settings - workspace - touch screen
2. set left edge to Application Launcher and Apply
3. swipe inward over left edge of the touch screen

OBSERVED RESULT
nothing happens, or maybe I end up moving a window if the swipe happens to land on the title bar

EXPECTED RESULT
trigger Application Launcher

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: kubuntu 20.04, new installation
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:  5.18.4
KDE Frameworks Version: KDE Frameworks 5.68.0
Qt Version: Qt 5.12.8 (built against 5.12.8)

I think, I'm running X11:
XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11

The laptop is a HP Pavilion x2 Detachable

behaviour in wayland seems to be the same

Same here on a HP Envy x360. Also tried both X and Wayland.

Manjaro, with Plasma-git packages
KDE Plasma version: 5.19.80

So I played around with the patch on Gitlab that makes the screen edge bigger...
If I make the screen edge 20px big then swiping from the edge still doesn't work but putting the finger directly on the screen edge area and swiping inwards from that does work.
Removing the screen edge though touch inputs are instantly recognized when swiping from the edge, so it's definitely not a hardware problem.
