SUMMARY There is a problem with the text tool and resizing. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. Create a canvas of dimensions 800 by 1280. 1. Create a text box using the SVG Text Tool. It doesn't matter if the selected region for the text box is entirely within the canvas or partially out of the canvas. 2. Write out some arbitrary text (the default latin text may be used) and set the size to be the minimum of 6. 3. Resize the text box to be considerably smaller, both in length and width, using the "Transform a layer or a selection" tool. You can do this by dragging the corners of the text after selecting the tool. 4. Alter the text again, using the tool in step 1, preferrably by adding more text (a single letter will do). 5. Attempt to resize again using that same tool in step 3. OBSERVED RESULT There is an arbitrary remnant of text in the original size that is past the text you just rewrote. EXPECTED RESULT It should just be the text you've already written that is visible and able to be resized. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This is problematic for me, a manga creator, who wishes to fit small text into my pages. The default minimum size of 6 is way too large for me, so I always resize the text box using the tool mentioned in step 3. But that remnent that appears is really problematic if the text I am trying to place is on the left hand side of the canvas and the remnent is on the canvas, possibly obscuring stuff I don't want to be obscured. And I can't get rid of it. I just have to depend on it to be out of the canvas area.
Hi Chris, I'm afraid that while I know our text tool still leaves a whole lot to be desired, that I cannot reproduce the issue you bring up. Would it be possible to show a screenshot or a screen recording of the problem?
Sure. Dear Bug Janitor, we still need this screenshot or screen recording... Dear Chris, please provide it when you have time and change the status to "REPORTED" again. (Also don't answer "sure" this time to not confuse Bug Janitor again :P It's a bit of a silly bot, but quite useful nonetheless)
(...I forgot to change the status :) )
