SUMMARY Icons are moving on resolution change. They should not move to a new location on resolution change. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Put some icons/shortcuts on desktop vertically from top to bottom. 2. Change to a lower resolution 3. OBSERVED RESULT Depend on how low resolution you choose, one or more icons are moved to the top as a second row. EXPECTED RESULT Icons should not move to a new location on resolution change. KDE Plasma is the only DE where this happens and this have to be fixed. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.69.0 Qt Version: 5.14.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This behaviour was present on KDE4 too.
That's the result from starting a dosbox game with 640x480 resolution: https://i.imgur.com/yJQd02R.png From This: https://i.imgur.com/aBD84EB.png This isn't normal and this problem isn't present anywhere but on KDE. It have to be fixed.
Is this different from Bug 354802? I see people (yourself included) complaining in there about icons moving around when the screen resolution is changed.
Yes, it's different. This problem is always present and not depend on reboot or anything else. It's DE's default behaviour. I thinhk it will be good to be fixed.
Can I receive some attention please? This problem is 100% reproducible and is weird as it is!
Could this be the same bug as Bug 360478?
Yes it seems. The are moving on every resolution change no matter if it's manual or via application. Desktop icons shouldn't move, it's not normal.
Yep, same as Bug 360478. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 360478 ***
